Featured Obstacle Race: Warrior Dash

24 Jul 2012

On a regular basis, I’ll be posting a brief profile of an obstacle race, starting with those best suited for beginners. If you would like your race featured here, please contact me.

Today’s featured race is a well-known one. The Warrior Dash is probably the most popular 5k obstacle race, with more than 60 events planned worldwide. Nearly 900,000 fans “like” the Warrior Dash on Facebook and more than 27,000 follow the Warrior Dash on Twitter.

Here’s some more information on the Warrior Dash, thanks to an interview with Kendra Alley of Red Frog Events.

Number of Obstacles

What is the most challenging obstacle(s) in the Warrior Dash?
Each obstacle is meant to challenge everyone in a different way. Warriors should be prepared to run, duck, climb and crash through a course that will test every muscle in their body.

What is the most fun obstacle?
Muddy Mayhem and Warrior Roast are our two signature obstacles that make their debut at each event.

Any training tips?
There is a training guide on Warriordash.com for participants to use when preparing to become a Warrior.

What’s unique about this race?
The inspiration behind Warrior Dash was to create the most bad-ass day possible. It is a day where participants of all athletic abilities get to challenge themselves, get muddy tackling the course and then celebrate their accomplishments with beer, food and live music. The creation of Warrior Dash was intended to give people an alternative to the classic 5K by providing them with an experience they will never forget.
