I heartily agree on having something to work towards. A couple years ago I pulled a group together to hike around Mt. Hood. We had from January to September to train and get into shape for 50 miles and a 4,000ft elevation window in 3 days. Everyone got to work and trained like crazy. This year It's more personal, but my goals are set.

Make this year your GREATEST!

I started P90X with a shoulder injury. It wasn't enough to show up on MRI, but I think it was a minor tear to my left labrum inside my rotator-cuff. My PT said I needed surgery or he was a rotten PT. My surgeon said, "give it 6 more months." I was in serious pain. Six more months seemed like a death sentence. I told him, "I am going to start lifting and you're going to have to operate or it's going to get stronger. 90 days of P90X later the pain was going away. 90 more days (round 2) and it was gone. AND I was in CLOSE to the best shape of my life. Best shape came later with a full round of INSANITY as coach suggests! That got me a little too lean but KILLER-FAST! I swear by these programs! Thanks for the review!

Jeff, thanks for your comment. I'm glad to hear this is helpful. My sister introduced me to Chalene Johnson, and Chalene has a lot of great energy to get you through the tougher HIIT bouts!

Great tips and much appreciated. I am looking to run in Spartan Pacific NW this year and a few others. I have run in a few others but not competitively and as fun as these types of races are, I want to see how hard I can push myself this time. I already LOVE INSANITY, I'm a fan of Chalene Johnson, and have been considering TRX; even rigged some similar suspension gear in my garage gym.

Thanks so much for the support and advice!
