Running: The Mainstay in Sports & Fitness

When consumers were still keeping a close eye on their spending dollars, running was one sport that recreation enthusiasts didn’t give up on. According to the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA), 35.5 million Americans ages 7 and older participated in running/jogging in 2010. This represents an increase of 10.3% from 2009 numbers. Tough Mudder Tri-State draws 20,000, T.M. – Indiana attracts 15,000

Tough Mudder drew impressive numbers this month with 20,000 anticipated for Tough Mudder – Tri-State and another 15,000 for Tough Mudder – Indiana.

Thousands were expected at the Spartan Sprint in Malibu, California this past Saturday, November 19. Race results show that 3,841 finished the event. (more…)

Top U.S. obstacle races attracted 65,000 in October

Virginia hosted a two-day Tough Mudder event the weekend of October 22-23. The event attracted up to 17,000 participants. According to Red Frog Events, 13,189 participated in Warrior Dash-NorCal over Halloween weekend, while the Rugged Maniac accommodated 2,000 in Arizona on Saturday, November 5. Roughly 3,000 participated in Ruckus – Kansas City, also held last Saturday. (more…)
